ADHB Tunnel
Pacific Insulation is proud to announce the on-time completion and delivery of our critical infrastructure work for the new Central Plant Building (A40) and service tunnel at Auckland City Hospital. As healthcare demands evolve, the need for resilient, long-lasting infrastructure becomes paramount, and this project stands as a testament to engineering excellence designed to serve the community for the next 100 years.
The new A40 facility is no ordinary structure. Built on a base-isolated foundation, it is engineered to withstand major disasters, ensuring that the hospital’s heartbeat—its power, water, and medical gases—remains active when it is needed most. By minimizing the risk of service failures, the design guarantees uninterrupted patient care during critical events.
Pacific Insulation played a pivotal role in bringing this system to life. Our team successfully executed the complex insulation and cladding of the Chilled Water (CHW) pipework. This extensive network creates a vital artery connecting the existing A01 Building to the new, six-story A40 Central Plant Building.
The installation required precision and technical expertise to ensure thermal efficiency and system integrity across the six floors of the new plant. By properly insulating and cladding these lines, we ensure that the hospital’s climate control and cooling systems operate at peak efficiency, reducing energy waste and preventing condensation issues that could compromise the facility's longevity.
This project was more than just a construction deliverable; it was a commitment to the future safety of patients and staff. Pacific Insulation is honoured to have contributed to a facility that will stand strong for generations, providing the invisible but essential protection that keeps critical healthcare services running without pause.
With the rising cost of electricity and gas, insulation is quickly becoming the cost-effective solution.1
